FWRHA Annual Membership Meeting Jan. 19th, 2008

submitted by Secretary, Laurie Wilson

The annual meeting of FWRHA was called to order by 2007 President Kasey Kesselring at 4:30 pm at Montverde Academy. 2007  Board members and officers present were Kasey Kesselring - President; Flo Vineyard - V.P.; Darren Gray - Treasurer; LeAnn Osborn - Secretary; Directors: Weldon Vineyard, Diane McMurtrey, Vicki Ritter, Kathy Anderson, Wayne Conkle.

The treasurer's report for the year was given and for the first time the club has $12,393.00 in the bank to start the new year.

New Business: The results of the survey sent out were discussed and gone over and are available for the membership to have. Hopefully the opinions in the results will offer good ideas for the new board to use in planning for the year. The proposed show schedule for 2008 was presented by Darren Gray and discussed. The February show at Clarcona is on March 1st this year due to leap year. All the Clarcona dates had to be locked in early due to concerns about losing the dates all together if we had waited until 2008. There was discussion concerning the Sunshine state club having a show scheduled also on March 1st. A motion was made by Laurie Wilson and seconded by Weldon Vineyard to keep the March 1st show date at Clarcona. Passed. A discussion was held on the possibility of holding a show at American Eagle at the end of March. A motion was made by Laurie Wilson and seconded by Weldon Vineyard to pursue this March 29th date at American Eagle for a show. Passed. A discussion was held on the possibility of WHOA running the Friday show of our Championship Show in October. WHOA would pay for all fees and the judge. Classes would include Walking, Racking and Spotted Classes. A motion was made by Weldon Vineyard and seconded by Sheryl Skala-Carl to have WHOA run and sponsor the Friday portion of our Championship show. Passed. A motion was made by Sheryl Skala-Carl and seconded by Laurie Wilson to cancel the Sept. 20th WHOA  show. Passed. The trail ride on April 19th will be run by Johnny McKeehan. Discussions were held on the class sheet for our 2008 shows. Heather McKeehan suggested adding the Spotted Traditional Trail Pleasure class this year. It was discussed by the membership present to possibly rearrange the class sheets to keep people throughout the whole show...more in FWRHA News.....

President’s Corner: May 2007
We had a very good show at Montverde on Saturday April 14th.  We had a record number of entries for this show at 159.  Many thanks to all who came to the show and participated; it was a beautiful day.

The board met on Saturday April 7th and began work on plans for the championship show in October.  Committees have been formed to review the class sheet as well as awards.  We also gave consideration to adding additional judges for the show, perhaps 2 or 3 one of which will have had significant experience judging spotted shows.  Notes from that meeting are included in this newsletter for your review.  More will follow on the championship show.

Our next show will be in Clarcona at the Clarcona Horsemen’s Park.  Remember that there are no stall assignments in Clarcona so get there early if you wish to have particular stalls.  We are considering using the clay arena for this show, but will not make a final determination until the day of the show depending on the weather and the condition of the clay arena.
