President's Corner

Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day! We should all be thankful for the men and women who have and are serving our country. It's folks like them that allows us to be free and do the things we enjoy.

We had a great show at Clarcona a couple of weeks ago. I really appreciate those of you who participate and support your local walking horse club. We couldn't do it without all of our volunteers and members! One thing I've learned from sitting on the TWHBEA Executive Committee is we are stronger together than apart. If there is anything we can do, please ask!

Our next show is June 28th and will be held at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa (outside arena). The next show schedule is enclosed and the event wil begin at 11 am. Of course, any pre-entries would be helpful as well as save you some money. Entry information is enclosed.  

The Florida Walking and Racking Horse Association Board of Directors meeting was called to order May 18, 2008 at 10:15AM. Officers and Board members present were Darren Gray, Laurie Wilson, Janie VanDeWalker, Wayne Conkle, Mary Connor, Kasey Kesselring and Weldon Vineyard.

Kasey Kesselring made a motion to approve the minutes from the February 3rd meeting. Second by Janie VanDeWalker. Minutes approved.

Janie VanDeWalker presented the Treasurer's report. As of this date there is $12,504.91 in the Association checking account and $5,069.26 in the Money Market Account. There are still several bills outstanding from the May show. Motion to approve the Treasurer's report made by Kasey Kesselring, second by Weldon Vineyard. Motion Approved.

Kasey Kesselring made a motion to move $5,000. from the checking account into the Money Market Account. Weldon Vineyard seconded the motion. Motion Approved.

Discussion regarding having a September show followed. Kasey Kesselring made a motion to have an abbreviated schedule show on September 20, 2008 at Clarcona Horseman's Park. This show will have a fewer classes than our regular shows and will be a casual show. The show will start at 11:00 am and be held in the shredded rubber ring.
